Why Free Still Works

Why does ‘free’ still work when you market your business? People basically have a penchant for anything and everything ‘free’. There is no doubt about it, when your target readers see the word ‘free’ in any of your promotional materials, that is one factor that they sure cannot resist.

As a business owner, you sure are not exempted and even indifferent to this magical word. Especially if you’re a small business entrepreneur, the word ‘free’ is music to the ears, manna from heaven, and a sure way to get you giddy with excitement.

Check out these tips to help you get ‘free’ marketing for your business:

1 – Bulletin boards are the most popular ‘free’ sites where you can post your promotional materials that you have painstakingly produced and paid for using commercial printing. Just post your advertising flyers or even your promotional postcards around your community and you will surely get noticed. But be careful that your promotional flyer does not get drowned from all the other stuff posted in them bulletin boards.

2 – Parked cars and windshields are also great mediums for your promotional materials. You just insert your materials in windshields, or you can even ask somebody to do it for you…for a fee of course. You just have to ask your local officials if it’s alright because some cities have ordinances against this method of marketing.

3 – Add your best sales ad line to any envelope printing job. You may put your best sales pitch below your address. The wonderful thing about it is that there’s no additional cost to it.

4 – Partnering with other credible businesses have a lot of advantages when it comes to lessening your promotional costs. Contact other business associates and ask if you could have free ad space to put your marketing pitch, and then provide them with a free ad space in your own promotional materials.

5 – Call publishers and check with your local newspapers or newsletters. Ask if you could mail their publications in exchange for a free ad space in their magazine or newspaper, or even their journal.

6 – Direct mail your promotional materials literally – leave your flyers, brochures, catalogs, and even your postcards on doorsteps. You can schedule your weekends and weekdays for residential areas and commercial districts.

7 – Write articles and send them to publications. Many publishers would welcome informative and how-to features. In exchange, they would gladly give you free ad space for the use of your article.

Why free still works? Not only does it work, but it gets great results for your business. So look for other ways to get your promotional collaterals advertised for free. You won’t have to pay for it and yet you are able to effectively market your business to your target audience.
